The Agnes Pockels Doctoral Prize is awarded annually to doctoral students from the third year of their doctorate. A jury selects four candidates from the numerous applications, who are given the opportunity to present their results during the Bunsen Conference.
This year's Agnes Pockels Doctoral Prize goes to Dr Karl Michael Ziems in recognition of his outstanding theoretical contributions to nuclear and electron dynamics in light-induced furan ring opening.
Karl Michael Ziems carried out his work - whose scientific quality and originality was expressly recognized by the jury - in the group of Prof. Stefanie Gräfe at the IPC and at the Max Planck School of Photonics.
The prize was awarded at the closing event of the Bunsen Conference in Aachen.
